It’s another Monday and time for my new weekly weather quiz question. Here it is. What natural disaster struck New York City in 1888?   Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

An upper level low pressure trough (“U” shape on yellow line) moved through Oregon to be replaced briefly by a high pressure ridge (“U” shape on yellow line). A frontal system rolled through the Pacific Northwest bringing more rain. That high pressure will give us some sunshine and some time to dry out a bit. Heavy snowfalls from the latest storm have renewed hope that the ski season is back and here to stay. Tuesday into Wednesday we will see another storm system followed by more storms later in the week that could bring enough rain to start the rivers to rise again and snow levels to rise. Mt. Ashland is closed today due to a power problem. Check before going. Hoodoo is open (as usual closed Wednesdays). Willamette Pass is open Thursday through Sunday. Please check the ski resort web sites for the latest details and updates as the new storms could improve the snowpack for skiing.
