It’s time for my weekly weather quiz question. Here it is. What natural disaster struck New York City in 1888? Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

An upper level low pressure trough (“U” shape on yellow line) moved through the Pacific Northwest and now the jet stream has set up a strong moisture fetch that has brought back some more heavy rain. Heavy snowfalls from the latest storm have renewed hope that the ski season is back and here to stay. Tonight into Wednesday we will see a frontal system that could bring enough rain to start the rivers to seriously rise again and snow levels to rise. The warm frontal portion moved in first then the cold front Wednesday. Mt. Ashland is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Hoodoo is open (as usual closed Wednesdays). Willamette Pass is open Thursday through Sunday. Please check the ski resort web sites for the latest details and updates as the new storms could improve the snowpack for skiing.
