It’s time for my weekly weather quiz question. Here it is. What natural disaster struck New York City in 1888? Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

The jet stream (shaded area with blue arrows) has set up a strong moisture fetch that has brought back even more rain. Heavy snowfalls from the latest storm have renewed hope that the ski season is back and here to stay. One last frontal system has pushed through and the rain will taper of today behind it. High pressure will take over to bring us sunshine Friday and Saturday. Mt. Ashland is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays, otherwise open. Hoodoo is open (as usual closed Wednesdays). Willamette Pass is open Thursday through Sunday. Please check the ski resort web sites for the latest details and updates as the new storms could improve the snowpack for skiing.
