trough of low pressure (“U” shape on the jet stream) is sliding southward and eastward and lengthening.  That trough is producing rain and snow showers with the snow staying in the higher elevations. A frontal system will bring even more rain to us. The Vernal Equinox arrives at 10:14 PM PDT tonight ushering in the season of Spring. (The earliest Spring in 116 years.)
