An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect for the valleys until 10 PM tonight. If you thought it was hot Tuesday today will be even hotter. A sprawling High Pressure Ridge (the yellow wave above the Pacific Northwest) will keep the airflow offshore and hot for at least another day. Tuesday’s high temperature in Eugene was not a record, but close at 97 and the record is 98.Roseburg’s 100 broke the record by one degree. Tomorrow both locations could see record highs into the triple digits.Eugene should at least get to 99 and Roseburg should break that 100 degree mark. The coast will be in the mid 60s while Florence, inland by about 2.5 miles will warm into the mid 70s after a high Tuesday of 72. Remember to keep as cool as possible, drink plenty of fluids, make sure outdoor pets have water and a shady spot, and don’t under any circumstances leave a child or pet in a vehicle unattended. There will be slow cooling beginning Thursday.
