Here’s my weekly weather quiz question. This is your last chance to win this week. This week’s question is: what is the “Heat Index” and why is it important to know what it is? Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

_______________

An upper air trough of low pressure (“U” shape on orange line) has increased onshore airflow bringing in some more clouds. The chance of rain will sneak in late Sunday night and Monday as more frontal systems head our way. For you skywatchers there will be an annular eclipse of the Sun on Sunday evening. Western Oregon is off the path of best viewing, but you should be able to see the moon, as long as the thicker clouds don’t move in, covering most of the Sun with a bigger area of sun visible at the top curve of the moon. For viewing instructions go to this address . Look for a mix of clouds and sun Saturday, partly cloudy at night, mostly cloudy Sunday in Florence for the 105th Rhododendron Festival. There will be a slight chance of sprinkles Sunday afternoon, but that shouldn’t hamper any of the festivities. For more details concerning the weekend’s events go to: Rhododendron Festival calendar from the Florence Chamber of Commerce.
