_______________

A high pressure ridge (“Arch” shape on both lines) has brought sunshine and warmer temperatures to the Pacific Northwest, but now an upper air trough of low pressure (“U” shape on orange line) will increase onshore airflow bringing in some more clouds and slight chances for rain beginning by late this afternoon. There will be a slight (20%) chance of showers today as the Rhododendron Festival wraps up today. The chance of rain will increase tonight and Monday as more disturbances head our way. For you skywatchers there will be an annular eclipse of the Sun this evening. Western Oregon is off the path of best viewing, but you should be able to see the moon, as long as there is a break in the clouds, covering most of the Sun with a bigger area of sun visible at the top curve of the moon.
