Here is my new weather quiz question for this week. A measuring scale was devised for determining wind speed over land and over bodies of water without the use of instruments. What is it called and who devised it? Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

Advisories: NONE AT THIS TIME.

_______________

The high pressure that was over us is gone now and a  trough of low pressure (“U”shape) has moved over Oregon and a frontal system moved from northern California into southern Oregon, then eastern Oregon increasing the chance of showers. At least a slight chance of precipitation will continue, after today’s clouds and sun, through most of the workweek as another frontal system moves in late in the week (position shown is after it passes through Oregon.).
