Here is my weather quiz question for this week. Today is your last chance to win this week. A measuring scale was devised for determining wind speed over land and over bodies of water without the use of instruments. What is it called and who devised it? Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

A  trough of low pressure (“U”shape) has moved over Oregon and has brought back the showers.  A frontal system moved through Oregon Thursday increasing the chance of showers. A low (“O” shape in yellow on first graphic) will slide through tonight and Saturday taking the showers with it. Yet another frontal system will approach next week, pushing through Tuesday, but it should slide through the northern part of the area only.
