_______________

This week is “Lightning Safety Awareness Week” and the National Weather Service has a special web page just full of things you should know about lightning.

An upper level low is slowly moving eastward and as it moved away from us we have dried out and warmed up a bit. A frontal system will approach the Pacific Northwest Thursday returning the slight chance of showers as it sits offshore, weak high pressure tries to take over after that, but another trough and a frontal system return a few more clouds and the slight chance for showers Saturday. Today was a rest day for the Olympic Trials. The action resumes tomorrow. The pollen count will stay high enough, with showers stopping, to bother those athletes who are allergic. At least we don’t have smoke from wildfires or grass field burning as we did during the previous Olympic Trials held here.

The pollen count for the Eugene-Springfield area is:
Grass- Moderate (19)
Trees- Moderate (24)
