Here is my new weekly weather quiz question. Why doesn’t the West Coast of the U.S. experience more thunderstorms? Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

Advisories: NONE AT THIS TIME.

An upper air trough of low pressure (“U” shape on the brown line) brought us enough marine air to cool our high temperatures down to more comfortable levels. With high pressure (“Arch” shape on brown line) over southern Canada and the low offshore we will warm up for the weekend. A weak surface wave, this cold front, brings increased chances of fog and maybe a slight chance of a little drizzle along the coast and a short lived increase in late night and early morning clouds inland.
