Here is my weekly weather quiz question. This is your last chance to win this week. Why doesn’t the West Coast of the U.S. experience more thunderstorms? Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. An upper air trough of low pressure (“U” shape on the brown line) brought us enough marine air to cool our high temperatures down to more comfortable levels. With high pressure (“Arch” shape on brown line) over southern Canada and the low offshore we will warm up for the weekend. A weak cold front will slide by mainly north of us next Tuesday not having any effect on our weather. Another high pressure ridge will build up next week for another round of increasing temperatures.
