No winner this week. Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is the difference between an infrared satellite image and a visible satellite image? Here is the correct answer. The infrared satellite image senses the difference in temperatures in the atmosphere to see the clouds while the visible satellite image is a picture taken by the satellite like a regular camera would. There is another kind of image called the water vapor image. This is a more detailed explanation of the types of satellite images. I’ll have another weekly weather quiz question for you starting next Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count.

Advisories: NONE AT THIS TIME.

The high pressure ridge has moved to the east and we will continue feeling cool for the rest of the weekend as the ridge weakens and a low off the coast moves to the north.  A cold front will approach the coast Wednesday and start moving through the Pacific Northwest Thursday. It doesn’t look like it will do much to change our weather except to keep us cool.

**Because weather forecasting is a combination of science, intuition, and timing there can be no absolute guarantees that individual forecasts will be 100% accurate. Nature is in a constant state of flux and sudden unexpected weather events can happen.
