Tim Chuey Weather
Sorry, but nobody correctly answered my weekly quiz question. Here it is one more time. Has ice ever reached the Gulf of Mexico by way of the Mississippi River? If so, when?  The answer is yes, only twice in recorded history, 1784 and 1899, have ice floes drifted past New Orleans and entered the Gulf of Mexico. The freeze in 1899 was considered the coldest because the Mississippi River was frozen from its source to its mouth. The ice was reported to be 1″ thick at New Orleans. I’ll have another question for you Monday. The first person to post the correct answer will win one week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs.
_______________
A  frontal system is poised offshore but will be held off by a short lived high pressure ridge that will give us sunshine and dry weather for Saturday, but a low pressure trough behind the ridge will replace it and send more storms our way beginning Saturday night . Yet another frontal system will come through on Monday and the parade of storms will continue through the week.
