Here is my weekly weather quiz question. What is the difference between a “Typhoon” and a “Hurricane”? Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

Don’t forget to “Fall Back” to Standard Time at bedtime Saturday night. The official time change is at 2 AM Sunday, but you don’t have to stay up that late to set your clocks back one hour. The Fire Department suggests that you check the batteries in your smoke detectors and replace them if necessary and the same goes for CO2 detectors and Radon detectors. Make sure they are working properly.

An upper level low (shaded “U” shape) is sending copious amounts of moisture at us. That moisture is coming from Hawaii and it is nick-named “The Pineapple Express.” A strong frontal system is being pushed through the Pacific Northwest dropping significant rain on us. There will be a break from the rain as weak high pressure (“Arch” shape in blue arrows offshore) takes over late Thursday night through Friday. We’ll be back to a chance of showers for the weekend into next week.

Advisories: NONE AT THIS TIME.
