No winner this week. Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is a “Wasatch Wind?” Here is the correct answer. A “Wasatch Wind” is a strong easterly wind blowing out of the mouths of the canyons of the Wasatch Mountains onto the plains of Utah. It is also called a canyon wind. I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you starting next Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count.

The  upper air flow is moving from the northwest as a high pressure ridge has formed over the Gulf of Alaska. A  frontal system pushed through the Pacific Northwest so we’ll see colder and sometimes drier air take over and some well deserved sunshine breaks. Here is a look at a frontal system that will move in for next weekend increasing the chance of rain again. For skiers Mt. Ashland and Hoodoo are open and Willamette Pass is still waiting for quite a bit more snow before they can open.
