We have a Winner!

Congratulations to Dave Haverstock who is the first person to post the correct answer to this week’s weather quiz question. Here is my new weekly weather quiz question for the last time. In meteorology what does the acronym “AFOS” stand for? Here is Dave’s correct answer: “AFOS- the Automation of Field Operations and Services; AFOS is the computer system that links National Weather Service offices and other computer networks, such as the NOAA weather wire, to transmit weather information.” I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you starting next Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count.

A upper level trough of low pressure (shaded “U” shape) has moved in and is changing the airflow to southwest. A frontal system has pushed through the Pacific Northwest. A high pressure ridge will take over Thursday and fade Friday. This frontal system will move in for the weekend returning the chance for rain. For skiers Mt. Ashland and Hoodoo are open and Willamette Pass is still waiting for more snow before they can open.
