No winner this week. Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is a “Tail-end Charlie?” Here is the correct answer. “Tail-End Charlie is slang for the thunderstorm at the southernmost end of a squall line or other line or band of thunderstorms. Since low-level southerly inflow of warm, moist air into this storm is relatively unimpeded, such a storm often has a higher probability of strengthening to severe levels than the other storms in the line.” I’ll have another weekly weather quiz question for you starting Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

An upper level high pressure ridge (the shaded “Arch” shape) has taken over our weather pattern and turned off the rain. The ridge will keep us dry with our standard issue late night and early AM fog through the rest of the weekend into early next week. The ridge will weaken and move allowing upper level low pressure to take over sending storms our way by next Tuesday. A frontal system will approach the Pacific Northwest Tuesday returning the chances for rain.
