No winner this week. Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is a “Tail-end Charlie?” Here is the correct answer. “Tail-End Charlie is slang for the thunderstorm at the southernmost end of a squall line or other line or band of thunderstorms. Since low-level southerly inflow of warm, moist air into this storm is relatively unimpeded, such a storm often has a higher probability of strengthening to severe levels than the other storms in the line.” I’ll have another weekly weather quiz question for you starting Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

An upper level high pressure ridge (the shaded “Arch” shape) will keep us dry with our standard issue late night and early AM fog into early next week. That’s when low pressure (shaded “U” shape) in the Gulf of Alaska takes over sending storms our way. A frontal system will approach the Pacific Northwest on Wednesday.
