_______________
No winner this week. Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is the difference between “weather” and “climate?” Here is the correct answer. The state of the atmosphere with respect to wind, temperature, cloudiness, moisture, pressure, etc. Weather refers to these conditions at a given point in time (e.g., today’s high temperature), whereas Climate refers to the “average” weather conditions for an area over a long period of time (e.g., the average high temperature for today’s date). I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you on Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

Note: Don’t forget that we go to Daylight Saving Time this weekend. The skies should be clear enough to enjoy the extra daylight Sunday. Remember to turn your clocks ahead one hour at bedtime tonight (Officially at 2 AM Sunday). It’s also time to check the batteries in your smoke detectors, CO detectors, and any other safety detectors you might so says the fire department.

An upper level trough of low pressure (Shaded “U” shape) is sliding through the Pacific Northwest and taking the showers with it as it moves away. A new high pressure ridge (Shaded “Arch” shape) dries us out through the end of the weekend and then a new trough takes over next week. A frontal system looks like it will get stuck as a stationary front well north of us next week and move in midweek.
