No winner this week. Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is the difference between “weather” and “climate?” Here is the correct answer. The state of the atmosphere with respect to wind, temperature, cloudiness, moisture, pressure, etc. Weather refers to these conditions at a given point in time (e.g., today’s high temperature), whereas Climate refers to the “average” weather conditions for an area over a long period of time (e.g., the average high temperature for today’s date). I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you tomorrow. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

An upper level ridge of high pressure (Shaded “Arch” shape) is flattening, losing its hump, and is allowing a sub tropical moisture flow from near Hawaii (called the “Pineapple Express”) to move toward us. A warm front will move in and stall North of us helping to funnel the moist air our way. An upper level trough of low pressure (Shaded “U” shape) along with a cold front will approach the Pacific Northwest Thursday increasing the chances for rain.
