Again, I apologize for not updating my forecasts for the last couple of days, but there was an internet provider failure over which I had no control. Thank you for your patience.

Sorry, no winner this week. Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What does “ECMWF” stand for? Hint: it represents a very necessary weapon in the meteorologist’s weather forecasting arsenal. Here is the correct answer. “ECMWF stands for European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts. Operational references in forecast discussions typically refer to the ECMWF’s medium-range numerical forecast model, which runs out to 10 days. This is one of the computer models used to forecast your weather. I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you starting Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

An upper level high pressure ridge (shaded “Arch”shape) will keep dry weather with us into Monday. A frontal system will bring back the chance of rain late tonight and Tuesday. Another frontal system will move on a southeast course through the southwest corner of Oregon and the northwest corner of California taking the heaviest rain to the south away rom the Willamette Valley.

**Because weather forecasting is a combination of science, intuition, and timing there can be no absolute guarantees that individual forecasts will be 100% accurate. Nature is in a constant state of flux and sudden unexpected weather events can happen.
