No winner this week. Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. Please define the term “acid rain.” Here is the correct answer. Acid Rain is rain containing relatively high concentrations of acid-forming chemicals that have been released into the atmosphere and combined with water vapor. It is harmful to the environment. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

An upper level low (Shaded “U” shape) has moved up to the Oregon coast shifting the airflow from the southwest increasing our chances for rain for a while. A frontal system is spreading rain throughout the Pacific Northwest. Today is the anniversary of the awakening of Mt. St. Helens back in 1980. This weekend is the 106th celebration of the Rhododendron Festival in Florence. Yes, there will be rain today, remember it usually doesn’t rain all day. There will be breaks so don’t let a little water spoil the celebration. Sunday will see bright sunshine by the afternoon so enjoy it. Remember, if it does rain and you get wet that this celebration is for the “Rhody” which likes and needs rain.
