Sorry, no winner this week. Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is “Permafrost?” Here is the correct answer. Permafrost is a layer of soil at varying depths below the surface in which the temperature has remained below freezing continuously from a few to several thousands of years. I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you starting Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

A frontal system has slipped through with most of its energy again mainly to our north again. An upper level trough of low pressure (shaded “U” shape following the ridge) will move up sitting offshore early in the week as a new frontal system slides in between Wednesday (position shown is Thursday) bringing us a slight chance of showers. That upper trough will hang around long enough to keep the slight chance of showers around for most of the rest of the week.
