Here is my weekly weather quiz question. What is the first thing you would notice at the beach when a Tsunami was approaching and what should you do?  Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

An upper level low (Shaded “U” shape) is just offshore and will hold there for another day or so. A short-lived ridge of high pressure will start clearing us up late in the week through weekend, then low pressure moves in off the coast early next week. A frontal system will stall offshore and eventually fall apart as it is caught in the southerly flow of the low stuck along the coast. For the 4th of July it looks like the upper level low will stay to our northwest over the Pacific Ocean while high pressure will strengthen in from the Great Basin. That should keep the sunny and hot conditions with us through July 3rd. There will be a delicate balancing act between the high and low. If the high weakens enough or pushes just a bit to the east we could see the low start to take over quickly returning the clouds and the chance of precipitation. So far I’m betting on something in between. I hope I haven’t totally confused you. It looks like the low will start cooling us off with some more clouds and cooler temperatures between Wednesday the 3rd and Thursday the 4th. So far I think high temperatures will be in the 80s for the 4th of July Holiday. As we get closer that forecast could change.
