Here is the correct answer. Yellow Snow is snow that is given a golden or yellow appearance by the presence in it of pine, cypress pollen, or anthropogenic material or animal-produced material (there’s what you thought was the only answer, right?). Advisories: There is a Blue-Green Algae warning that continues for Dexter Reservoir and Dorena Reservoir has just been added to the list. Water monitoring has confirmed the presence of blue-green algae that can produce toxins, state public health officials said. The algae levels are likely associated with dangerous cyanotoxin concentrations in the water that can be harmful to humans and animals. Swallowing or inhaling water droplets, as well as skin contact with water, should be avoided according to the authorities.

An upper level high pressure ridge (“Arch” shape with blue arrows) has covered the Pacific Northwest for a while giving us offshore airflow which has kept us heated up. An upper level low (“U” shape with blue arrows) is sliding down from the Gulf of Alaska. Today it will push over the ridge, then move to the northeast. A weak cold front (position shown is Monday well past us) will slowly move down from the northwest over the rest of this weekend and that will mean temperatures will be cooling to the more comfortable mid to low 80s as the front slowly moves across Oregon. The slow cooling will make it more comfortable for fair goers at the Lane County Fair that continues through Sunday and the Relay For Life that continues through this evening at Willamette High School.

The Grass Pollen Count is listed as Moderate at 8 and Tree pollen is at 3 as of 7/26/13 and both have risen a bit according to Oregon Allergy Associates.
