Sorry, but no winner this week. Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is an “Alberta Clipper?” Here is the correct answer. An “Alberta Clipper” is a fast moving low pressure system that moves southeast out of Canadian Province of Alberta (southwest Canada) through the Plains, Midwest, and Great Lakes region usually during the winter. This low pressure area is usually accompanied by light snow, strong winds, and colder temperatures. Another variation of the same system is called a “Saskatchewan Screamer.” I’ll have another weekly weather quiz question starting Monday. Advisories:
A Blue-Green Algae warning has been lifted for Dexter Reservoir, but continues for Dorena Reservoir, and Fern Ridge Reservoir, Walterville Pond, and farther away at Devils Lake. Water monitoring has confirmed the presence of blue-green algae that can produce toxins, state public health officials said. The algae levels are likely associated with dangerous cyanotoxin concentrations in the water that can be harmful to humans and animals. Swallowing or inhaling water droplets, as well as skin contact with water, should be avoided according to the authorities.

An upper level trough of low pressure (Shaded “U” shape) has moved in along the coast and will keep us wet through the rest of weekend into early next week. One frontal system has already moved through and another one is on the way continuing our rainy weather. Autumn begins at 1:44 PM today so Summer is officially over.
