Sorry, but no winner for my weekly weather quiz question. Here is the question one more time. What was the earliest recorded meteor shower that resulted in human deaths?  Here is the answer. In 1490, in Shasni Province, China, “tens of thousands” of people were reportedly killed by a rain of “stones” the size of large eggs that pelted a town. In 1912 some 14, 000 of them blasted Holbrook, Arizona. More than 10,000 were reported to have slammed into farm fields in Poland in January 1868. That one happened in the Winter so no workers were out in the fields. I’ll have a new weather quiz question for you next week starting on Monday (Memorial Day). The first person to post the correct answer  after the forecasts will win one week of free personalized forecasts tailored to your needs.

_______________

An upper level trough of low pressure (Shaded “U” area with blue arrows curving from the coast into California and Nevada) has been keeping  Oregon  under a wet and colder than normal weather pattern. That low pressure trough will start moving Eastward as high pressure develops behind it. Another frontal system will be approaching Oregon and it looks like it could give us at least a small chance of rain as it falls apart moving through on the Memorial Day Holiday itself. Since Memorial Day will be mostly cloudy be prepared for at least a slight (20%) chance of sprinkles no matter where you will be in Western Oregon.
