Here is this weeks weekly weather quiz question. There is a high speed river of air found in the middle and upper portions of the troposphere that helps control the movement of surface storm systems. What is it called? Please place your answer as a comment after the forecasts. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized forecasts tailored to your needs. Good luck.
_______________
A trough of low pressure (the “U” shaped dip in the jet stream over the Pacific Ocean just offshore) has helped to push a frontal system into the Pacific Northwest that brought back the rain. Weak high pressure aloft gave us a nice day Monday. A flat ridge of high pressure (a small “arch” just hitting the shore) will move eastward letting low pressure replace it. Today will have sunshine and no rain in the Valley because of that high, but by tonight a new surface disturbance will be pushing through keeping us wet until next weekend.
