Sorry no winner this week. Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. Define the term “PIBAL.”  Here is the correct answer. A PIBAL is a Pilot balloon. A small helium-filled meteorological balloon that is tracked as it rises through the atmosphere to determine how wind speed and direction change with altitude. I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you starting Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

high pressure ridge (Shaded “Arch” shape with blue arrows) is over the Pacific Northwest but a low (Shaded “U” shape with blue arrows) will be moving slowly into California. A strong frontal system is slamming into California threatening to dump a lot of rain there. It will spread rain our way, but it won’t have the same intensity as it does in California. Another storm will move in Monday followed by others. Look for an extended wet period.
