Here is my new weekly weather quiz question. What is a “gale?” Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

An upper level ridge of high pressure (“Arch” shape in blue arrows) centered off the West Coast has kept the clouds away giving us dry weather with plenty of sunshine. That high is still in control, but a weak disturbance will over it across the northernmost reaches of Oregon today increasing the clouds a bit there.  The chance of precipitation will hold off until Thursday when another trough approaches and a frontal system moves through. Look for a 10 degree drop in high temperatures Friday. Be on the lookout through the clouds for the Full Strawberry Moon at 10:11 PM Thursday.
