Here is my new weekly weather quiz question. What is a “gale?” Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

An upper level ridge of high pressure (“Arch” shape in blue arrows) centered off the West Coast has kept the clouds away giving us dry weather with plenty of sunshine. That high is still in control, but not for long. The chance of precipitation will return Thursday when another trough approaches and a frontal system moves through. Look for a drastic drop in high temperatures Thursday. Be on the lookout through the clouds for the Full Strawberry Moon at 10:11 PM Thursday. A frontal system will approach the coast Saturday brushing through mainly the northern reaches of the area producing a slight chance of showers Saturday night and Sunday.
