Sorry, no winner this week. Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is a “macroburst?”  Here is the correct answer. A Macroburst is a convective downdraft with an affected outflow area of at least 2½ miles wide and peak winds lasting between 5 and 20 minutes. Intense macrobursts may cause tornado-force damage of up to F3 intensity.  I’ll have another weekly weather quiz question for you starting Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

An upper level trough of low pressure sitting off the coast of California (“U” shape with blue arrows) is will move to the north and east  increasing the chances for another round of mountain showers and thunderstorms. Warming up today for the Oregon Country Fair with a slight chance of showers and a thunderstorm and a bit cooler Sunday. Keep your eyes on the full “buck” moon as the moon will appear to be much larger than normal when it rises above the horizon.
