No winner this week. Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is a “Derecho?” (Hint: One has been in the news lately.) Here is the correct answer. A Derecho (Pronounced day-RAY-cho), a widespread and usually fast-moving windstorm associated with convection. Derechos include any family of downburst clusters produced by an extratropical MCS, and can produce damaging straight-line winds over areas hundreds of miles long and more than 100 miles across.I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you starting Monday. A high pressure ridge (“Arch” shape in blue arrows offshore) is slowly weakening and an upper level low will slide over it toward the weekend. A frontal system will push in  bringing with it the slight chance of showers starting Sunday.
