A ridge of high pressure (“Arch” shape in blue arrows) is sitting east of us and will keep the sunshine and warmer temperatures with us into next week. A frontal system looks like it will be preparing to visit the Pacific Northwest by the end of next week, that is if it holds together. The Perseid Meteor shower has begun. It will continue and peak on the night of August 12.

• A RED FLAG WARNING IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM SATURDAY FOR THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING ABUNDANT LIGHTNING FOR THE EAST SLOPES OF THE OF NORTH OREGON CASCADES, THE CENTRAL OREGON CASCADES, THE EAST SLOPES OF THE OF THE CENTRAL OREGON CASCADES, THE DESCHUTES NATIONAL FOREST, MINUS SISTERS RANGER DISTRICT, THE CENTRAL MOUNTAINS OF OREGON, THE SOUTHERN BLUE MOUNTAINS, THE STRAWBERRY MOUNTAINS, AND THE CENTRAL BLUE MOUNTAINS.
• A HEALTH ADVISORY HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THE PRESENCE OF BLUE-GREEN ALGAE AT DEVILS LAKE IN LINCOLN COUNTY. HIGH LEVELS OF CYANOTOXIN HAVE ALSO BEEN FOUND IN ODEL LAKE IN KLAMATH COUNTY RESULTING IN A HEALTH ADVISORY BEING ISSUED THERE ALSO. THE TOXIC ALGAE BLOOM MEANS THAT PEOPLE SHOULD NOT HAVE DIRECT CONTACT WITH THE AFFECTED WATER AND THAT ALSO GOES FRO ANY PETS.
