No winner his week. Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is a “Turkey Tower?” Here is the correct answer. Turkey Tower is slang for a narrow, individual cloud tower that develops and falls apart rapidly. The sudden development of turkey towers from small cumulus clouds may signify the breaking of a cap. I’ll have another weekly weather quiz question for you starting Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

An upper level high pressure ridge (Shaded “Arch” shape with blue arrows) has moved in closer to the Pacific Northwest continuing our current weather pattern for today. An upper level low in California ( Shaded “U” shape with blue arrows) and an upper level trough of low pressure (Shaded “U” shape with blue arrows) offshore will bring back the flow of moisture over us. A frontal system (position shown is Tuesday), pushed by the upper level lows, will move into Oregon Monday returning cooler temperatures and the chance of showers.
