Here’s my weekly weather quiz question. This is the description of an Oregon disaster. “Every major highway in Oregon was closed, cutting off entire cities from emergency supplies. Fifteen people were killed and more than 11,000 were homeless. The governor activated the Civil Defense emergency radio network for the first time in Oregon history to declare the entire state a disaster area.” What was the disaster and when did it occur? Please place your answer as a comment after the forecasts. The first person to post the correct answer will win one week of  free personalized forecasts tailored to your needs. Good luck.
_______________

A stronger  upper level High Pressure ridge (the “arch” shaped portion of the yellow lines over the Pacific) is over us and warmed us up quite rapidly. A record high of 100 degrees in Roseburg Wednesday and  one degree below the record high for Eugene Wednesday). Most locations in the valleys will be well above 90 degrees today and  near 90 into the weekend as a result of that strong high pressure ridge. It will still be warm and dry this weekend for the Oregon Country Fair.

Advisories:  A HEAT ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM TODAY FOR THE COAST RANGE, THE ENTIRE I-5 CORRIDOR FROM PORTLAND THROUGH EUGENE AND SOUTH TO COTTAGE GROVE, THE CASCADE FOOTHILLS (INCLUDING THE FOOTHILLS OF LANE COUNTY), AND THE UPPER HOOD RIVER VALLEY.
