Here is my new weekly weather quiz question. What is  “perigee?” Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

An upper level high pressure ridge (Shaded “Arch” shape) had been sitting over us keeping storms away. The ridge has flattened out enough to be called a “dirty ridge” and it allowed a frontal system to nose its way through into Oregon with the warm front moving through and the cold front washing out. The cold front is not a rain producer, but it will cool down the temperatures. We will see sunshine and dry weather Tuesday and Wednesday with a new frontal system returning the rain Thursday. Good new skiers! Hoodoo (closed Tuesdays & Wednesdays), Willamette Pass (usually closed Mondays & Tuesdays, now only open weekends), and Mt. Ashland (closed Tuesdays & Wednesdays) are open for your skiing pleasure. Check their websites for conditions and specific schedules.
