Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is “the Bermuda High?” Here is the correct answer. The Bermuda High is a semi-permanent, subtropical area of high pressure in the North Atlantic Ocean off the East Coast of North America that migrates east and west with varying central pressure. Depending on the season, it has different names. When it is displaced westward, during the Northern Hemispheric summer and fall, the center is located in the western North Atlantic, near Bermuda. In the winter and early spring, it is primarily centered near the Azores in the eastern part of the North Atlantic. Also known as Azores High. I’ll have a new weekly weather question for you starting Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

surface low pressure center (“L”) slid southward along the Oregon coast taking the chance of rain with it. An upper air ridge of high pressure (Shaded “Arch” shape with blue arrows) is nudging its way toward the coast as the upper low that’s been over us retreats southward returning the dry weather for the rest of the weekend. That won’t last there will be a chance for more showers to move in by late tonight.  Note: Mt. Ashland is open Thursdays through Mondays. Willamette Pass and Hoodoo are all still closed for now. They say they will be opening again when enough snow falls. Check their websites for conditions and specific schedules.
