Jim Wilcox is the first person to post the correct answer to this week’s weather quiz. Here is the quiz question again. What is the size of the largest snowflake ever recorded? You’ll get extra “wow” points if you know when and where it was seen. Here is Jim’s correct answer. The biggest snowflake reportedly measured 15 inches (38 cm) across and fell on January 28, 1887 at Ft Keough, Montana. Another giant fell in Bratsk, Siberia in 1971, a flake 20 cm (8 inches) by 30 cm (12 inches). I’ll have a new weather quiz question for you next Monday. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs.

An upper level trough of low pressure (the “U” shaped dip in the yellow line) is moving in and will cool a bit Wednesday. It will warm up later in the week into the weekend as high pressure builds in and it should stay dry. Look for another weak cold front to brush by next weekend and then waffle and get pushed back as a warm front and then move through again. Still no rain. There could be some sprinkles along the South coast tonight and the Northern coast and interior Thursday.
