Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What does the acronym “LORAN” stand for?  Here is the correct answer. LORAN stands for Long Range Navigation, a system of long range navigation whereby latitude and longitude are determined from the time displacement of radio signals from two or more fixed transmitters. I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you starting Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

An upper level trough of low pressure (Shaded “U” shape with blue arrows) will be moving into the Pacific Northwest bringing rain with it. A frontal system moved through for some more precipitation. High pressure (Shaded “Arch” shape with blue arrows on first graphic) starts to take over Wednesday drying us out again. Note: Mt. Ashland is closed now waiting for more snow. They will open one last time this season on next Saturday March 28th, snow or now snow, for their “Big Mountain Bash.” Willamette Pass and Hoodoo have officially announced that this ski season is over for both of them.
