An upper level high pressure ridge (Shaded “Arch” shape with blue arrows) has been controlling weather allowing temperatures to rise to well above normal. The ridge is moving to the east away from us and low pressure is swinging in from the Northwest. That is increasing the westerly marine flow of air to cool us down quite a bit. A weak cold front will enhance the cooling trend today even though it falls apart. That’s great news for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Trials that run through Saturday.
