An upper level low pressure trough (the  “U” shaped dip in the yellow jet stream line) is moving eastward over the Pacific Northwest.  High pressure aloft (the “arch” shaped yellow line) will build in keeping much needed rain away from us. A cold front will slide down from the Northwest next weekend. Also, be prepared for possible smoke high over the area from fires in British Columbia. More smoke, this time at the surface, is collecting over the Deschutes National Forest could slowly move toward us because of the offshore airflow pushing it from East to West.

Forecast for the Southern and lower Mid Willamette  Valley including Eugene-Springfield and Albany-Corvallis:  Mostly sunny after some AM clouds today,  AM clouds then a mix of clouds and sun Wednesday and Thursday, partly cloudy evenings and mostly cloudy nights highs 82-85 lows 50-53. AM clouds then a mix of clouds and sun Friday, mostly clear evening and mostly cloudy at night,  high 80 low 50. AM clouds then a mix of clouds and sun and cooler  Saturday and warmer Sunday, becoming mostly cloudy at night,  AM clouds and mostly sunny and a bit warmer Monday highs 77-86 lows near 50. (seasonal averages high 83 low 52)

Forecast for the Umpqua Basin including, Roseburg:  AM clouds and patchy fog today then sunny in the afternoon, becoming mostly cloudy tonight, mostly sunny again Wednesday and Thursday, clear Wednesday night, mostly clear Thursday night highs 86-88 lows 55-57.  Sunny with cooling Friday and Saturday, them warming Sunday and Monday, and clear nights highs 82-87 lows 53-55.  (seasonal averages high 87 low 56)
