It’s time for another weekly weather quiz question. Here it is. A total of 3,696 people died in the United States from 1959 to 2003 due to this weather phenomenon. What is it? Please post your answer as a comment after the forecasts. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. Good luck.
______________
An upper level low pressure trough (the “U” shaped dip in the yellow jet stream line) is moving eastward over the Pacific Northwest. High pressure aloft (the “arch” shaped yellow line) will build in keeping much needed rain away from us. A cold front will slide down from the Northwest next weekend. Also, be prepared for smoke high over the area from fires in British Columbia. More smoke, this time at the surface, is collecting over the Deschutes National Forest and could slowly move toward us because of the offshore airflow pushing it from East to West.
