Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is a “Jet Max?” Here is the correct answer. A Jet Max (or Jet Streak) is a point or area of relative maximum wind speeds within a jet stream. I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you starting Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

Not much relief from the drought, but with northwesterly winds at least we clear out some smoke. A couple of upper level lows (Shaded “U” shapes with blue arrows) will march out of the Gulf of Alaska at us. That will keep us in cooler temperatures for short a while. A high pressure ridge (Shaded “Arch” shape with blue arrows on previous graphic) will really heat us up Tuesday.
