______________
A high pressure ridge starting to build up (See the “Arch” shaped shaded area from the Gulf of Alaska to Idaho) giving us offshore flow and warming us up quite a bit today, Saturday, and Sunday. Another trough of low pressure will develop and move toward us next week with a cold front moving through Oregon Wednesday cooling us back down again. There is still smoke over the Deschutes National Forest near Sisters and could slowly move toward us if and when the offshore airflow returns pushing the smoke from East to West.

Advisories: AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH IS IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH MONDAY EVENING FOR ALL OF WESTERN OREGON FROM THE CASCADE FOOTHILLS WEST, EXCEPT FOR THE COAST, AND CONTINUING SOUTH TO JUST PAST COTTAGE GROVE. YOU SHOULD BE ESPECIALLY CAREFUL WHEN OUTDOORS TO DRINK PLENTY OF WATER, APPLY SUNSCREEN, AND COVER YOUR HEAD. THE ELDERLY AND INFANTS ARE PARTICULARLY SENSITIVE TO THE HEAT SO CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN. MAKE SURE YOUR OUTSIDE PETS HAVE PLENTY OF COOL WATER AND A PLACE WHERE THEY CAN GET OUT OF DIRECT SUNLIGHT.
