Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is “Deep Percolation Loss?” Here is the correct answer. Deep Percolation Loss: In hydrologic terms, water that percolates downward through the soil beyond the reach of plant roots. I’ll have a new weekly weather quiz question for you starting Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

An upper level blocking high pressure ridge (Shaded “Arch” shape with blue arrows) cleared the skies for some drying time, but also colder temperatures. Now a couple of low pressure disturbances (Shown as small shaded areas) will move through from the south sliding moisture into our area. A frontal system will bring back the chance of precipitation back to Oregon. Again, more storms head our way as a frontal system approaches the coast Tuesday. By Saturday another frontal system approaches the Pacific Northwest. Local skiers continue to rejoice. The mountains have a lot of new snow and Willamette Pass, Hoodoo and Mt. Ashland are all open. Check their websites for updates.
