A  trough of low pressure (See “U” shape offshore) is setting up over the Pacific Ocean and will stay offshore keeping in a cool moist airflow for quite some time. A series of waves will push through the trough generating rain. A frontal system fell apart as it hit the coast, but another is coming closer and will be moving cooler moist air across the Pacific Northwest today bringing increased chances for rain. Remember, the Autumnal Equinox occurs next Wednesday at 8:09 PM beginning the Fall season and the full Harvest moon reveals itself in the early morning hours of Thursday September 23rd.
