That cold front slowed down and that’s why the rain waited past Thursday morning when I expected it to start. Showers and much cooler today (SLIGHT CHANCE OF A THUNDERSTORM) high near 55 and low 44. Showers will be likely Saturday morning increasing to rain in the afternoon Saturday night the high 54 and low 42. Sunday and Sunday night will be drier with only a slight chance of showers during the day because of weak high pressure. Sunday’s high will be 54 with a low of 42. A new cold front will move in for Monday to make rain likely high 49 low 43 with a 40% chance of night time showers. Much the same Tuesday with a 50% chance of showers high 50. Wednesday, Veterans Day, there will be a 40% chance of showers with the high 50 and the same for Thursday.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE CASCADES UNTIL 4 AM SUNDAY. The snow level will be below pass levels at 4,000′  today (8-12″ snow), 3,500′ tonight (5-9″ snow).  Saturday, 4,000′ (6-10″ snow) dropping to 3,000′ Saturday night, 3,500′-4,500′ Sunday afternoon, then hovering right around pass levels at 5,000′-5,500′ free air freezing level late Sunday night. It’s back to a snow level Monday through Thursday as it falls to below the passes again starting Monday night. Serious news for travelers, but great news for skiers as we get closer to the ski season.

This is your last chance to win my weekly weather quiz this week. How fast do raindrops and snowflakes fall? You must give both and please use miles per hour as the measure. The first person to post the correct answer as a comment will win one free week of personalized forecasts tailored to their needs. Good luck. If nobody answers correctly I’ll have the answer for you later this evening.
