Here is my weekly weather quiz question for the last time. What is a “Spring Tide?” Here is the correct answer. A Spring Tide is a tide higher than normal which occurs around the time of the new and full moon. I’ll have a new weather quiz question for you starting Monday. Please remember to post your answer as a comment by clicking on “no comments /comments” in the upper right hand portion of this page under the caption, then add your comment. The first person to post the correct answer will win a week of free personalized weather forecasts tailored to your needs. The answer has to be a comment to win. An email answer will not count. Good luck.

More sunshine as High Pressure (“Arch” shape with blue arrows) continues to keep us warm and dry. It seems a frontal system is moving through the Pacific Northwest and will wash out bringing only a few more clouds with almost no noticeable difference in our weather. Looks like some typical Oregon Summertime sunny and dry weather for Independence Day and the 2016 Olympic Team Trials that run through July 10th at Hayward Field.

Note: Please consider your neighbors when discharging fireworks, which by statute in Eugene should only be used on Monday the 4th. Also, be very careful to put out all spent fireworks to prevent accidental fires. If possible, keep pets indoors to lessen the jarring boom of  mainly the illegal fireworks. Proudly fly your American Flag.
